Construction
The Limerick Wind Farm will be constructed by TagEnergy.
If the project is approved, construction is expected to commence in 2029. Construction of the project is expected to take about two to three years to complete.
Construction will involve the use of trucks, light vehicles and machinery moving in and around the project site.
The main site access will be determined as part of the traffic impact assessment process, and as part of project delivery whichever route is chosen will have the roads upgraded and then maintained for the life of the windfarm.
Some local roads will be used for delivery of materials and equipment to site, a comprehensive traffic management plan will be prepared as part of the project approvals to manage impacts to the community including school bus routes and other sensitive uses.
An estimated 350 direct and indirect jobs are expected to be created during construction with most of the construction workforce to be housed locally.
The workforce housing strategy is being considered in project planning and further information will be provided at later community engagement sessions.
Local individuals and businesses are invited to join the Local Supplier List and the project will aim to provide local training support through engaging with schools, colleges and TAFE to develop scholarship and employment pathways.
A transport route and a transport management plan will be determined as part of the traffic impact assessment process.
